CIS offers open-source cyber security standards - IHS Jane's 360

A set of common cyber security standards is gaining ground in the defence sector, as organisations seek to shield themselves from potential threats across their supply chains. The Center for Internet Security (CIS), a US non-profit organisation that promotes cyber security awareness, has developed free-to-use bodies of standards and recommendations to help organisations protect themselves from security threats. The first grouping, CIS Benchmarks, offers guidance on protecting networks and systems at a low level: the “switches and knobs under the hood” of a web server or a laptop or another device, said Tony Sager, senior vice president at CIS. This covers a huge variety of inputs and variables, such as how to configure password settings to unlock a screen.
