Top Enlisted Leaders Focus on Troop, Family Wellness By Elaine Sanchez American Forces Press Service WASHINGTON, March 29, 2012 The military needs to “eviscerate” societal problems plaguing the force with an unmatched and unyielding effort, the Marine Corps’ top enlisted leader said today. Problems such as drugs, alcohol, domestic violence, criminal mischief and suicide are the “insurgents inside our wire,” Sgt. Maj. of the Marine Corps Micheal P. Barrett said. “We need to attack those damn things the same way you’d attack it if it was happening to one of your own children. That’s the level of commitment we have.” Barrett was among the military’s top enlisted leaders who spoke on a panel this morning at the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury’s Warrior Resilience Conference here.
