​SNOWMASS VILLAGE, Colo. — Alan Babin, an Army veteran from Round Rock, Texas, was named the 2015 Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Freedom Award recipient today at the 29th National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic hosted by DAV (Disabled American Veterans) and the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). ​The award is presented each year to a wounded veteran who demonstrates outstanding courage and achievement in their road to recovery. ​Babin, 34, is among more than 350 veterans and active duty personnel from across the country gathered at the NDVWSC in Snowmass Village to learn or master adaptive winter sports. ​On March 31, 2003, while serving as an Army medic in Iraq, his platoon came under attack and a fellow soldier was struck by enemy fire on March 31, 2003.
