DOD Identifies Army Casualty: News Releases are official statements of the Department of Defense.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. Pfc. Brandon D. Goodine, 20, of Luthersville, Ga., died June 7 in Maiwand, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 4th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.
