Ex-hacker @kevinmitnick headlines military cyberwarfare conference

A former fugitive hacker who is now an Internet security consultant will seek to demonstrate that breaking into Pentagon contractors’ computer systems is easy enough that it can be done over lunch. Kevin Mitnick, of Mitnick Security Consulting, LLC , was a renowned criminal hacker and is now on the side of the good guys wearing white hats. He will be the star attraction Oct. 16 at the U.S. Naval Institute’s “The History and Future Challenges of Cyber Power ” conference. The event will take place at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., where the Navy is making a huge investment in cyberwarfare education for the future force, says Peter H. Daly, retired Navy vice admiral and CEO of the U.S. Naval Institute. Conference organizers decided to invite Mitnick so government and industry attendees can get a front-row view of a cyber intrusion as it could happen in real life. “...
