While the UK Royal Air Force (RAF) is being stretched, it can maintain the global operations currently being undertaken and retains some spare capacity for unforeseen contingencies, the chief of the service told Jane's on 28 June. Speaking ahead of the 2017 Air Power Conference in London, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Sir Stephen Hillier, said that the RAF's current level of engagement is intensive but not unsustainable, and that there is scope for further taskings should they arise. "We are very busy on operations, and the range of our commitments is very broad.
