Despite Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi’s reassurance that security operations have been ceased in Rakhine, the Rohingya still fleeing their homeland speak of a horrifying military crackdown that has yet to slow down. Since the Myanmar security forces launched the crackdown in retaliation of insurgent attacks on August 25, more than 436,000 Rohingya refugees have crossed over to Bangladesh to escape the military persecution until Monday, according to the UNHCR. Thousands of Rohingya are arriving at the refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar every day. Their narrative of the violence in Rakhine sounds nothing short of a nightmare. The Myanmar army, teaming up with local Moghs – the ethnic people of Rakhine, also known as the Arakanese, who are the majority in the state – has been conducting routine raids in Rohingya villages to rid the territory of all Rohingya people, said...
