US to designate the IRGC, affiliates as terrorists | FDD's Long War Journal

They just assisted Lebanon in brokering a ceasefire with the Sunni rebels attacking their border-towns… I think the State Department is ignoring the IRGC’s potential as a stabilizing force in the region. Another example is their assistance in the creation of the Popular Mobilization Committee, a paramilitary organization composed of Sunnis, Shiites, Yazidis and Kurds credited with turning the tides against ISIS in Iraq. Yes the IRGC has funded Iraqi and Afghan insurgents in the past and is a major supporter of Hezbollah but if the circumstances permitted, diplomatically, i’m sure they’d swap their terrorist allies for larger and more legitimate ones. But US foreign policy in the past and present has failed to acknowledge some of the more sensible criticisms of the Iranian government.
