The USAF said it is not barred from flying commercial payloads on ICBM motor-derived rockets It also said it is not actively pursuing this on future ICBM motor rocket missions The US Air Force (USAF), for the first time publicly stated that it believes it is not barred from flying commercial payloads on excess intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) derived rockets. “The Air Force believes there is no legal prohibition against the inclusion of secondary commercial payloads on space launches performed with excess ICBM motors that have been converted for government use,” USAF spokesperson Captain Christine Guthrie told Jane’s on 30 October.
