Monster moves: TA soldiers of 128 Field Company, REME move two huge ex-US Navy amphibious vehicles

Territorial Army soldiers from Portsmouth-based 128 Field Company, Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers, took on a giant tug-o’-war-style task when they moved two huge ex-US Navy amphibious vehicles to make way for the regeneration of derelict land outside the city. The two Lighter Amphibious Resupply Crafts (LARCS) were left beside the M275 on land that was once Pound’s Scrap Yard, famed as the last resting place of many old naval vessels, submarines and redundant military hardware. The LARCS were purchased by a local entrepreneur from the US Navy years ago to be used as floating tourist attractions on the Isle of Wight but the venture never got off the ground.
