#Soldiers of 1 Mechanized Brigade have completed their final training ahead of deploying.
Soldiers from 1 Mechanized Brigade Reconnaissance Force (BRF) have completed their final training exercise ahead of their deployment to Afghanistan in April. The troops have spent the past week conducting their Final Training Exercise (FTX) on Salisbury plain, in Wiltshire, and are now well-prepared to deploy on Operation HERRICK 18. The core of the BRF is formed of soldiers from the Household Cavalry Regiment and 4th Battalion the Rifles along with specialists from the Royal Military Police, Royal Artillery, Intelligence Corps, Royal Signals and Royal Engineers. It also has its own Desert Hawk and Light Electronic Warfare teams. The ten day exercise has seen the BRF deploy in Jackal vehicles and Chinook helicopters to conduct search missions to clear compounds.
