Campbell soldier dies in Afghanistan

FORT CAMPBELL, KY. — A Fort Campbell soldier from New York has died in Afghanistan. A statement from the Army on Saturday says 25-year-old Sgt. Justin Richard Rogers of Barton, N.Y., died Friday at Bagram Airfield in a noncombat related incident. The Army says it is investigating Rogers’ death. The statement says Rogers joined the Army in 2008. He was a horizontal construction engineer assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell. The sprawling Army post is located on the Kentucky-Tennessee line. The statement said Rogers is survived by his parents, Stan J. Vicki and Teresa A. Vicki, of Barton.
