A400M ATLAS Celebrates 1000 Hours On Thursday 8th October, a celebration was held at Number LXX Squadron, at RAF Brize Norton, commemorating the 1000th hour flown on the A400m ATLAS. Personnel from across the ATLAS force and from Airbus were invited to a BBQ to celebrate a fantastic group achievement, demonstrating how successfully the RAF, Airbus, civil servants and contractors all work together to deliver a world class aircraft. The ATLAS is a multi-national 4 engine turbo-prop military transporter designed and built by Airbus as a tactical airlifter with strategic capabilities. It will replace the C-130J Hercules by 2022. ATLAS is capable of operating in the most austere locations and on natural surface tactical landing zones. In a single non-stop sortie, ATLAS can carry up to 117 people or 17T over 3000 miles or over 4000 miles with minimal load. For further informatio...
