Adm. Bill Moran becomes the 39th Vice Chief of Naval Operations

WASHINGTON (NNS) -- On May 31, Adm. Bill Moran became the 39th Vice Chief of Naval Operations (VCNO) when he assumed duties from Adm. Michelle Howard during an informal change of office ceremony in the Pentagon. Moran was promoted to the rank of admiral by Chief of Naval Operations, Adm. John Richardson, prior to the change of office. "This is a humbling opportunity to continue serving our Sailors as the vice chief of naval operations," said Moran. "And I am grateful to Navy leadership, especially Adm. Richardson, for their trust and confidence." In his previous position, Moran served as Navy's 57th chief of naval personnel from August 2013 to May 2016.
