U.S. Air Force Buy a print WASHINGTON – Joint Base Andrews in Maryland lifted a base lockdown late Thursday morning after personnel were sheltered in place amid reports of an active shooter at a medical facility. Security forces were still clearing the Malcolm Grow Medical Facility where the incident was reported amid a planned active-shooter drill, according to the Pentagon and the Air Force and Navy base just outside of Washington, D.C. Reports of an actual shooter appeared to have set off a series of warnings and responses from the base itself as well as the Pentagon and the White House, which halted planned travel from Andrews by Vice President Joe Biden. The Pentagon sent out a warning at about 9:30 a.m. to all personnel, saying there was a “barricade situation”...
